Stanley’s 31 Miles in August Challenge
This August, our amazing 14-year-old son, Stanley, is taking on Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Kids’ Summer Challenge to complete 31 miles.
For many people, 31 miles might not seem like much. For Stan, it’s a huge achievement.
Stan lives with an undiagnosed progressive neuromuscular condition that affects his strength, balance, coordination and endurance. He experiences tremors in all four limbs, tires easily and faces daily challenges with mobility that most of us never have to think about. Despite many months of investigations, we are still searching for answers through ongoing genetic testing.
Throughout August, Stan will be completing his miles with the help of his incredible pony, Bonnie. Bonnie gives him confidence, independence and the freedom to keep moving forward, one mile at a time.
We’re raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital in support of the Neuromuscular Team through the Childhood Epilepsy & Neurology Fund, which works closely with the team caring for Stan.
Every donation will help support children and young people receiving specialist neurological care and help Birmingham Children’s Hospital continue providing outstanding care, innovation and hope to families like ours.
If you’re a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box. It won’t cost you anything extra, but it means your donation is worth 25% more to the charity.
Thank you so much for supporting Stanley and cheering him on throughout this challenge. Every donation, every share and every word of encouragement means more than you know.
With love,
Stanley, Bonnie & family ❤️
