St Albans Half Marathon 2016 · 12 June 2016 ·
Stanley was born at 27 weeks gestation at Watford Hospital on 03 October 2010. He weighed just 1018g and needed immediate ventilation. The Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) accepted him as an inpatient despite his level of gestation and he remained there for exactly 100 days - leaving in mid January 2011. His life was saved by the SCBU team on several occasions during this time.
Stanley (and his family) were well looked after throughout those 100 days. Stanley was very, very, unwell at times but the tenacity, skill, care and love of the all the staff on the unit, as well as his fighting spirit, helped him to grow strong and healthy... and eventually well enough to go home with no long term issues.
Stanley is running a 1.5 mile Fun Run, part of the St Albans half marathon, to raise much needed funds for the Watford SCBU and as a thank you for helping him through the first few months and years of his life.
Any donation, large or small, will be gratefully received by the Unit and will help them to help other special babies in need of life saving care so thank you for taking the time to visit Stanley's JustGiving page.
