Story

I've set this JustGiving page up in memory of my Grandad, Stanley Edward Styles.

Grandad was an amazing man, who lived a full and happy life. He served a full term in the Royal Navy as well as working for 20+ years as a caretaker at Wingham Primary School, before retiring in 1991.

He passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his own home, with his 3 daughters by his bedside on 1st Feb 2013. He was 81.

He had been recently diagnosed with MDS, a group of blood disorders where the balance of healthy blod cells in the body is disrupted. But, rather than making a fuss, he kept his illness a secret - as he didn't want to worry the family.

You can read more about MDS here

I've been asked to setup a fund for donations in lieu of flowers. There will be donation envelopes and information leaflets at his funeral. You can also donate online via this page.

All proceeds will go to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, to continue their valuable work researching cures and treatments for MDS and other blood cancers.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thankyou x
