Story
We've taken on the challenge of virtually travelling between Manchester and London to raise vital funds for Centrepoint.
In 2019/20, 6,828 young people presented to their local council in Manchester as homeless or at risk of homelessness and 8,447 young people did the same in London. The members of the comms team have therefore decided to work together to cover the 180 miles between the two cities in acknowledgement of the scale of the issue for young people, many of whom have no family support to fall back on.
The members of our amazing team are: Catherine Caladine, Laura Jones, Nicki Parry (Teese), Emma Thomas, Dan Chadwick and Charlotte Urwin.
Between us we'll be walking, running and cycling an average of 30 miles each between 30 September and 7 October, which gives us a week complete the challenge. This challenge is part of a wider Stay Active fundraising initiative by colleagues of The Co-operative Bank. We're aiming to reach £2m raised for Centrepoint by the end of this year (we're currently at £1.7m). The Bank's partnership with Centrepoint has given thousands of young people access to help and advice, provided hundreds of counselling sessions and given some of the most vulnerable young people a home and a chance for a better future.
