Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Everyone at St Barnabas GAC would like to express their gratitude to all the NHS Staff.

As we are all aware, they are currently facing the very daunting task of providing help and support to many of us within the UK, knowingly putting their own well being at risk, whilst also making huge sacrifices in their personal and family lives.

Sadly, it looks increasingly likely that many of us, our close family and friends, will require care from the NHS during this pandemic. Even if we are lucky enough to avoid this, we have all relied on the NHS in some way in the past.

Like many GAA clubs in Britain we have several members who hold roles within the NHS who can be proud of what they have done what they are doing. Everyone at St Barnabas is extremely proud of you.

If there has ever been a time to let them all know how much we as a community appreciate them and their colleagues, it’s now.

Many of us have seen the “Emergency £100k Appeal launched by Nottingham Hospitals Charity for NHS staff” in the Nottingham Post, this is to help the NHS Staff by providing the facilities and support they need to enable them to carryout their roles.

St Barnabas would like to do their part in ensuring this target is met and if possible, exceed it.

We know we can’t raise 100k, but anything we do manage to raise will really help.

So, for our part in this we have asked our members and players to brave the shave and lose hair in a bid to raise money for the Nottingham Hospitals Charity, this includes shaving heads, though as we have a few members a little light on top we have included waxing chests, legs and backs to ensure there is no exclusions. We will have videos of all participants shared via our website and social media pages.

we have had a great response with over 20 members and some members partners agreeing to participate (details to follow).

We appreciate this is a time of uncertainty for many of us, however any donations, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping reach the target.

Again, thank you to all the magnificent NHS staff here in Nottingham and throughout the UK - thank you to the everyday heroes you all are!
