On Sunday 1 July at 3pm I am venturing forth in the Great Manchester Swim in Salford Quays to raise money for my chosen charity, Mind.

Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.  
Mental health problems are more common than you might think and can happen to anyone – one in four of the population will experience mental distress at some point this year. In our society mental health issues and the people affected are widely misrepresented and misunderstood.

For the past six months, I have been training my little arms and legs off in Clissold Pool and Hampstead Ponds so I will be ready to take on the waters of Windermere for the one mile slog. Yes it is going to be cold but there is no backing out now.

Oh and one mile is 65 (ish lengths) of a regular London council-run 25m pool so its quite a long way.
