Story

Thank you for showing interest in 45 of us braving the winter all-night rain and cold to raise funds for young homeless through the Big City Sleepout on 16th December 2019

Rough sleeping is visibly increasing in Brighton and London - and when I was in San Francisco earlier this year I found it really scary how bad things have got there. Richard Steventon in my team has also inspired me by always stopping to say hello to have a chat, treating the rough sleepers in Tower Bridge / St K’s Dock / Ethoca office area with respect on a human level - whilst also sharing some coin / food etc. He’s shown me they are mostly good people fallen on hard times who are just trapped.

My brother is organizing this event. The timing is horrible as this last working week is one of the busiest in Q4 with so many events and meetings and visitors scheduled. Still, I will be fortunate for all those things and my family at home.

I hope doing this damp & cold rough sleep will do a small bit of good for young people in critical need - especially at this time of year, when we are all focused on being warm at home with our loved ones. I also hope to learn something from all the people i’ll meet.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary has been open for 21 years, helping 16-25 year olds who are homeless or insecurely housed get a route off the streets and back onto their feet www.thects.org.uk

 Thankyou 👍👍
