In March I will be taking on my biggest challenge yet,
running Impact Marathon Guatemala up the active Pacaya Volcano!

Although it wasn’t widely reported in UK news, disaster
struck Guatemala last year when the Fuego Volcano erupted, killing hundreds and affecting the lives and communities of 1.7 million people.

Impact Marathon, other runners and myself will be heading
out to Guatemala to take part in the race and to work with two local charities that we are fundraising for.

SERES is a group dedicated to empowering young people to
overcome challenges in their communities and bring about long-term, systemic change. SERES works in an area directly impacted by last year’s eruption and funds we raise will help these communities rebuild their lives.

CARAS ALEGRES works in a small community right next to a
prison. They provide an after school group for children with no one at home to look after them, offering a safe environment and nutritious meals.

My training has begun in earnest, although the wet and windy
moors might never prepare me for the heat of Central America!
