Steve Akehurst Everest Base Camp Climb – Above and Beyond Fundraiser for STEP · 4 April 2019

STEP is a local charity providing support for young people in Swindon, who experience isolation and exclusion, due to behaviour, personal circumstances or poverty. Therapeutic group work is used to deliver life and social skills, to encourage young people to make a positive contribution to society.

Story

On the 4th April myself and my father Michael Akehurst, will be climbing to Base Camp of Mount Everest.

This is a very special trip as it a present from my boys for my 40th
birthday.

I have decided  that I wanted to raise funds for an amazing group that has supported my eldest son with ASD for so many years.

STEP goes ‘Above and Beyond’ to support children & young
people;  so, I’m going ‘Above and Beyond’ to support them

They are always there to support and teach young people not
to be afraid of the world but instead to embrace it.

My wife and I knew from day one that this would be a group that would be so deserving of any donations and awareness we could raise doing this amazing adventure.

The trip is going to be very challenging, but knowing that
by attempting this massive trek, we can support STEP and make more people aware of how valuable they are in our kids’ lives; this will be the motivation  we need to do our best.

Please donate and support this amazing group and let them
continue to help so many more kids in Swindon.
