Step By Step is an independent special school for children with autistic spectrum disorders. The school is based on the principle that intensive and early intervention is the key to helping children access the knowledge, skills and confidence to allow them to achieve their maximum potentials.

Story

A group of staff members (past and present) is undertaking the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for equipment for our new school playground.

Nine daring individuals will be attempting to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just 24 hours. We also have two voluntary drivers to transport us between mountains.

The distance we will be climbing up and down the mountains comes to about 26 miles. The highest mountain peak is 1344 metres. So we will be climbing a marathon over a day and a night whilst travelling across 3 countries. Needless to say, no small feat!

Team members are:

Sian Kelly, Leila Stayton, Karen Barnard, Heather Garrod

Clare Page, Anna Dubis, Basilisa Asensio-Torres, Charlotte Birkbeck

Rebecca Betts

The two drivers are Jon Spinks and Simon Page

Amongst the items we plan to buy for the school with the money we raise are a self-weighted rower (£1330) and a double cross country skier (£1366). These will provide the vital sensory and physical input that the pupils require on a daily basis.
