Story
I appreciate that this is such a difficult time for so many people and that not everyone will be able to donate even if they want to, and I understand.
For those that do have the means to donate then please consider supporting this cause, which is so close to my heart.
Charities, including the MND Association where I am privileged to work, stand to lose vital funds due to the Covid-19 epidemic and without those funds we can't support the people who need us most. For us, this is people living with MND who are at one of the most at risk groups due to Coronavirus.
For the last two weeks in isolation I have spent my time speaking to supporters of the MND Association and have been truly inspired by their determination, courage and kindness, including the bravery of a very special man called Andy Laird, who is living with MND himself. He is my motivation for signing up for this challenge.
Andy struggles to walk even 200 yards due to MND, and is now in self-isolation in his home with his wife for the next 12 weeks. Despite all of this he completed 500 steps around his garden and a 1km cycle on a static bike in his house. He has raised over £5,600 for the MND Association with this challenge alone.
It is people like Andy who will help the MND Association through this tough time and it is people like Andy who need the support of this charity the most. It is only right that I play my part in this, with your support.
My challenge will see me climb the equivalent number of stairs to the height of Mount Everest in my house over the Easter weekend. For anyone interested that is a grand total of 3871 flights of stairs or 100,000 steps (What else have I got to do in isolation, right?!)
I will post updates as I go and hope to have buns of steel by the end of this!
Please do feel free to virtually join me in the same challenge or just take a look at the videos and laugh...
Thank you as always for your support in any way which you can give it. Even the cost of the coffee or the wine (oh the wine!!!) that we can't drink together at the moment will make a vital difference.
As always I am extremely grateful for your support.
Steph
