Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 1993 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes or "the I have to inject myself type" although I found it relatively easy to deal with, it was a shock for my family!

Diabetes UK or BDA as it was once known put my family in contact with other local families affected by diabetes which provided a much needed and friendly support network for when things were not quite right. Diabetes UK also provided  a weekend away for my family to learn more about how to manage the newly diagnosed condition and where I learnt to inject in my tummy... woo  and I myself, a few years later went on a fully charity funded week to Scotland with other diabetic children (no parents =0) haha) just to have fun, experience some mad outdoor sports and generally enjoy myself with other diabetics my age and learn a few neat life tricks.

None of this would have been possible without the help of people like you donating to a good cause. Diabetes is one of the fastest growing diseases in the uk and every penny is needed to find a cure and improve the understandings of this condition. There is no cure for diabetes but it would be nice if in my life time I would see one! Please please dig deep and put as much as you can towards this cause and in return I will run 10k in skin tight lycra YES thats right SKIN tight lycra for your troubles!!!

The chances are YOU KNOW someone other than myself who is aflicted with this condition and the majority of us will die of a diabetes related condition - so do it now.....donate........make me look good (haha...joke) and help improve the lives of millions.

UPDATE

I completed the race in 1 hour 8minutes and 53 seconds and just a huge THANK YOU andWELL DONE everybody - we doubled my target of £250!!! WOOHOO!!!
