Story

Hi, many thanks for visiting my fundraising page 🥰

With the big 40 looming at the end of April 2024, it felt like the right time to challenge myself both physically and mentally by signing up to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon 🏃🏼‍♀️ which more specifically will be my first ever half marathon!

I am certainly not a natural runner (probably as I enjoy food and drink far too much 🍷 🥖)  and the thought of ever being a runner pre 2020 would have made me laugh! However through the lockdown months (with the gym doors firmly closed) I decided to begin my first steps as a runner and completed couch to 5k ✅ then as the world slowly returned to some form of normal, I decided I needed to keep it up 💪🏻

In July 2021 Micka encouraged me to try my first ParkRun 🌳 which soon became a regularly Saturday outing! On one of these Micka spotted the Pershore Plum Plodders at Worcester Woods, queried why I’d never told him about Pershore’s very own running club 🤦🏼‍♀️ and swiftly signed us up for a trial!

In early 2022 I had my first run with the Plodders, I was horrified to find they run for an hour (I’d never gone further than 5k) and we would be heading up Holloway (the biggest hill Pershore offers) but I some how survived my first run and Micka signed us up as members 🙈

From that first run, I met and continue to run with a lovely bunch of people, who are both good enough to listen to my moaning/complaining (or ignore it) and pace, encourage and mentor me at each plod event! 💜 Since joining the plodders I was encouraged to take on my first ever 10k at Worcester City race in 2022 and a year on in 2023 set a new PB 🏃🏼‍♀️

So with all this encouragement and support 💜 I guess it was inevitable to push myself a little further and sign up for my first half marathon, and what better way to do it, than through fundraising for MacMillan 🍀

So many thanks for supporting me 🫶🏼 this really is a cause that means so much to me ❤️ I have no doubt both the training and the event will be a real challenge for me, especially with all the winter training 🥶, but I shall keep you updated with my progress and I know that with all the support and donations trickling in, it will all be worthwhile 😘
