Story
As everyone knows I am not a natural runner. However this year has been a big change for me and one of my aims was to have time for me and to get fitter. I started running on 1st August and struggled to manage a 60 second run. I’ve signed up for this 5k as my goal and because it is such a great charity. I’m gradually getting there thanks mostly to support from a few key people and my own stubbornness! My alarm clock remains set for 6.30 in the morning so I make sure I actually manage a run!
This run is happening around Sherwood Pines which became a family favourite during lockdown. We spent many happy hours there during those strange days. It is always beautiful scenery so hopefully that will encourage me to keep going!
There are so many of us who struggle with our mental health and it’s time it was spoken about more and understood more. For anyone I know who’s had a dark day I’m running this for you! Speak up and know there is always someone who will listen to you. Let’s support each other a little more with no judgement.
I'm taking part in Nottinghamshire Mind's first ever Mental Elf fun run to help raise awareness of the work Nottinghamshire Mind does and funds to help support them.Nottinghamshire Mind exists to improve and support the mental health of everyone across Nottinghamshire. Their support services are designed with the needs of our communities in mind. They are accessible in a variety of ways, recognising each person as an individual. They're here to give a friendly smile, a listening ear and most importantly, respect.Community mental health support is important to me. If it's important to you too, please sponsor me.
