Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me and my hubby sister and brother in law are doing the wirral bikeathon again this year. 28 miles on our bikes in aid of leukaemia and lymphoma research.
This will be the third year we have done the bikeathon. We are doing it in memory of my mum Deborah who suddenly died back in 2001 of a very rare blood disorder called thrombocytopenia - purpura. This meant my mum had no platelets in her blood and had to undergo several blood and plasma transfusions. My mum later died of a brain hemorrhage due to the blood disorder that she had.
It was very unexpected and left our family devastated, she left behind 3 children... Myself being 14, my sister laura who was 11 and our brother Sam who was 9 years old.
The disease had been recorded twice in 26 years in arrowe park hospital the other patient who had thrombocytopenia also passed away. This was because doctors did not have the experience of dealing with this kind of case because of the lack of research done and lack of knowledge on how to treat the symptoms.
We would like to raise money for research on these blood disorders to hopefully save more peoples lives who come to contract this terrible disease.
Please give generously and help us reach our target of £1000. Thank you - Steph and Chris Turner. X
