WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity.

Story

This year I have decided to step up to the challenge (!) and run my first ever half marathon in aid of a great cause, Water of Life - a charity which Diageo has worked with and supported  for the past few years by providing safe drinking water to 1 million people a year in Africa.

There are many people in Africa who don't have access to safe drinking water. The Water of Life programme is funded by Diageo through working with NGO partners, our subsidiaries and also through employee contributions.  One of the fundraising activities that a couple of employees created about 4 years ago was the Water of Life Half Marathon in Marlow. The half marathon is held around 'World Water day' on 25th March and attracts about 500 runners who all raise money for a chosen project.

The chosen project this year will donate funds to a project to be delivered by Water Aid (who aim to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities). The project will be rolled out in Maputo and consists of a mixture of constructing new pipe networks and setting up new water-kiosks. It's aiming to provide safe water to 46,000 people.

I am really enjoying training for it and have already ran 10 miles in 1.5 hours with over a month to go....

So please, no matter how big or small, support me in helping raise money for this amazing cause and donate now.

Thank you

Stephanie
