Story

Hello to everyone and thank you all for donating to my previous charity walk, back in May this year you helped me raise a huge amount of money for the oncology ward at Ipswich Hospital where I have been having chemo for the past 15 months. I raised a fantastic £2406 and I have you all to thank for that. Your kind donations helped them to purchase brand new equipment for the oncology ward!

As you all know the awful cancer I have is terminal, so my treatment is ongoing. Only a few months ago I was told that the chemo I was on had stopped working, I am now on a much stronger type of chemo to try and slow down any further growths, unfortunately it has lots of horrible side effects which rarely give me more than a couple of days pain free.

I have decided that I want to do another walk in Norfolk to raise more money and I have picked a time when I hope to be at my best between chemo cycles. This time I have decided I would like to raise money for the new cancer centre at Colchester hospital, where they are currently trying to raise millions of pounds to get this project underway. The oncology team at Colchester hospital are also close to my heart as we have a very good friend that works there and, like my oncology team at Ipswich, she is undoubtedly dedicated to her patients.

Please do not read this thinking ‘Bally wants more cash’, just remember that none of us know what is round the corner, I pray that none of you will ever need the treatment that I have had to go through these past 16 months or so, however it is good to know these wards and their oncology teams are there for all of us should we ever need them.

My next challenge will be to complete Peddars Way. In May this year I successfully completed the Hunstanton to Cromer part, this time I aim to start at Knettishall Heath and walk to Hunstanton. This is approx. 47miles and I hope to complete this in 4-5 days from the 4th December 2017, again mid chemo cycle.

On behalf of me and my family thank you again for any kind donation you can make and once again thank you for your previous donations.

All the best

Steve (Bally) x
