Sometimes in life there are life changing moments which put into perspective how lucky and fortunate we are. We worry,moan and critisize over the smallest things. When suddenly you are faced with the prospect of losing a close friend, you realise how insignificant these things really are.

This happened to me two years ago when I was faced with this scenario. Ian a great friend of mine was in intensive care with a rare condition  called Castlemans Disease. At the time it was touch and go whether he would survive, eventually they managed to diagnose the disease and following treatment, Ian began to pull through.

Following the care and dedication of the staff on ward 44  (Haematology) of the Manchester Royal Infirmary hospital, the outcome may have been very different. We cannot thank them enough.

Ian currently continues to do well but due to the rarity of the condition is slightly uncertain of what the future holds for him.

I am therefore hoping to raise this money to buy equipment that will make the stay of other patients more comfortable, as often the hospitalisation takes a considerable length of time.

CALLM is the fund in which money raised will  be passed onto, so that the patients will directly benefit.

This is my first Marathon and I started a training programme in January 2012. I am Injury free at the moment and am hoping to complete in under 4 hours. So please give what you can and remember to live life to the full !!
