Event: Great Manchester Run 10k 2019, on 19 May 2019
In memory of Simon Farrow
Great Manchester Run 2019
Campaign by Diabetes UK (RCN 215199)
Manchester's greatest running event. Our runners will be choosing between a 10k and half marathon distance and will be passing some of Manchester's greatest landmarks.

Story

Myself , my wife and other close family members are going to take part in the run in honour of our son Simon.

Simon sadly passed away almost 12 months ago. He was a fit and healthy 27 year old young man who had developed diabetes without him knowing. He caught a bad flu last January and his body went into diabetic ketoacidosis which resulted in him losing his life.

Diabetes is a serious condition and we would like to raise much needed founds for diabetes uk and hopefully raise awareness to the people like me who didn’t know much about it.

I’m not a runner and probably never will be, but I’m determined to train and complete the full 10k.

The support that people have shown to date has been fantastic. It is really encouraging to read all the comments.
