At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi,

First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  The charity that i am fundraising for is Alzheimer's Society. I chose this charity as my girlfriend and i both know people who have suffered from this disease.  The money raised will go towards the research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia to improve the treatment for people today and to search for a cure for tomorrow.

I'm 34 years old and currently live in Bucksburn, Aberdeen with my girlfriend Heidi and two year old daughter Amelie, i work offshore on the Auk Alpha platform for Wood Group.  The event that i am taking part in is the Glasgow to Edinburgh double marathon (actually 56 miles), this is on the 6th of March 2010, the race itself starts at Ruchill Park in Glasgow and follows the Fourth & Clyde and Union canals past the Falkirk Wheel and finishes in Edinburgh Quay, near Haymarket.  If you would like to know more about the event go to resoluteevents.co.uk.  This will be the first race of this distance that i have taken part in but i have completed three marathons and several half marathons.

Any funds that you can give will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again, Steve Forde.
