We  as work friends saw at first hand the effects, this debilitating condition had on one of our work colleagues who had cared for and looked after his father until his father passed away recently from a type of Alzheimer's disease called Lewy Body Syndrome . This condition is the second most common type of dementia after Alzheimer's and is especially prevalent in people over the age of 65.  There is no known cure or treatment available for patients with this type of dementia.  So it was particularly easy for all four of us to sign up for this event to support our colleague and try and raise much needed funds for this worthy cause.

 We regularly participate in open water swimming, so for us it was a great incentive to use this event in order to raise much needed funding that we know, will go to help research the causes and treatments for this debilitating condition. 

The swim which will be done in relay is scheduled to take place on August 26th  2018 and will hopefully be completed in 13 hours involves swimming the length of Loch Ness . Not only is Loch Ness 23 Miles in length but the temperature of the water very rarely varies from between 5c -11c
