Story

The charity that I am running for is Newborns In Need at Good Hope Hospital Birmingham.

This is a cause close to both my partner and I's heart, as we have experienced first hand with this department, on not one but two occassions.

The first occassion was in September 2009 when our Daughter Ruby-jean was born 6 weeks early. The support that we had from the staff and the unit was second to none and we were amazed by everything and all the emotional support we received from the staff for the time that we were under there care with our daughter .

The second occassion was May 2011 when our Son Harrison also decided he wanted to make an early apperance ! This time at 32 weeks. As we had been in the unit before this time round it was not as daunting and the staff remembered us from our time with them with Ruby-jean. Again the service we received was amazing.

We know as parents how hard a time like this can be, and as we have experienced first hand the work that they do and how much it costs for the specialist equipment , so I am running for this unit to give something back to the unit for the help and support that they gave us while we were on the unit with both our children and the support for when we got home.

This unit does not get the recognition for the hard work and care that they give to soo many premature babies every year.

This is the second 1/2 marathon that I am participating in (but will not be the last as I'm working my way up to do the London Marathon) - the last one we managed to raise enough money to help buy a Acti heart monitor - which both Ruby - Jean and Harrison had to use , these are £500 alone.

We are currently expecting our fourth and last child and there is a strong possibility like her brother and sister before we will be using the unit again - so please help us raise as much as we can to help babies like our own get the specialist care they need in the early days of their lives.

So please dig deep and donate now.
