Wales in a Day (https://www.opencycling.com/wales-in-a-day/) involves crossing Wales on a bicycle from north to south (Caernarfon to Chepstow) in a day.  The route is 185 miles long and includes 4500m of ascent.  I will be starting and finishing in darkness at a time of year that has the longest amount of daylight hours!  Google suggests the route would take over 4 hours to drive but 18 to cycle (hadn't realised that when I signed up!!)

I'll be honest; the main reason I entered this event was after I missed out on the 'C2C in a Day' event with the same guys I'm doing this with. I remember looking at their Strava route, seeing how much calories they'd burned and thought "Wow, imagine what I could eat, guilt-free, for that!!" I also wanted to have a crack at something that I am genuinely unsure of whether or not I'll actually be able to complete! Without a doubt, this will be the hardest thing I've ever done by a country mile! 

I wanted to use this opportunity to try to raise funds for a fantastic local charity that I have been involved with now for a number of years.  The Yard do amazing work with disadvantaged children and young people and, as cheesy as it sounds, they really are a beacon of hope for a lot of people in the local community.  Anything you can spare to help this great cause would be much appreciated.
