Mourne 7 Peak challenge · 6 August 2022

Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues (TAMHI) works with sports/youth club across NI to raise awareness of mental health and to tackle the social issues that negatively impact on this.

Story

On the 6th August I have decided to take on the Mourne 7 peak
challenge to help raise funds and awareness for a worthy charity T.A.M.H.I
(Tackling Awareness of mental Health issues). This is a 9-13-hour challenge to
concur the 7 tallest peaks in the Mourne mountains. In total I will be climbing
over 5200 meters similar in height to mount Dykh-Tau in Russia which is the
second highest Peak in Europe. My aim is to raise £1000 in aid of
T.A.M.H.I

Mental health is such an important part of our lives and the guys at
T.A.M.H.I (Tackling Awareness of mental Health issues) are doing a brilliant
job at raising awareness and supporting Children in schools and the community
through sport and activity.

TAMHI is a mental health charity based in Northern Ireland that works
with sports clubs and groups who use sport to raise awareness of mental health
and resilience. TAMHI works with sports clubs, schools, and youth groups to
make mental health fun and engaging. We are based in North Belfast but will
support any group we can with resources.

Their approach is focused on raising the capacity of grassroots groups
to have the confidence to connect with their members in relation to mental
health. They do this through, workshops, talks, training, and most unique
activities and games. Their approach has proven to connect better with people
who like sports and like to learn through activity.

Sport is reflective of our society as a whole and therefore it is
important that sport addresses the importance of promoting a positive mental
fitness for all. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that one in four
of us will experience a mental illness at some point in their lives.

Please donate if you can, as every penny helps this brilliant charity.
