What are we doing?

Simply my friend Richard and I are cycling the 1,000 miles over 14 continuous days from John o'Groats in the frozen north of Scotland to sunny Lands End at the tip of Cornwall. Thats an average of 70 miles a day (with several hills and photo opportunity detours thrown in along the way).

Why on earth would you want to do that?

Bigger thighs and a love of lycra.

But seriously its all Richard's fault! Basically he thought it would be a good way of ignoring that we had both reached 40 (me last November and him on the day after we arrive in Lands End giving him an advantage). Rather than give into the mid-life crisis and buy the sports car, why not do something to trick your body into thinking it's still 21!

Whilst the reason for the ride wasn't initially charity related if you are going to put yourself through so much pain you might as well raise some money for a good cause in the process. I wont be doing it again when I reach 50!

Why the MS Society?

I've chosen to raise money for multiple sclerosis in memory of my mum who passed away in 1996 aged 50 after 15 years of bravely fighting and living with MS.

MS is the most common disabling neurological condition affecting young adults. Over 100,000 people in the UK have the condition.

The MS Society does some great work supporting people with MS, running valuable programmes to improve the quality of life of those affected. They also fund research into the cause, cure and symptoms associated with the condition. I know how MS can devastate a person's life so please give generously and make my sore bottom worthwhile!
