Story
Stephen Nathan Dykes 26/07/1963 - 29/08/2020
On Saturday 29th August 2020, Stephen Dykes took his own life at the age of 57 years old.
Steve suffered a life long battle with mental health that wasn’t spoken about until 2017, where the family tried everything we could to get him help. Being a man of his generation, thought it was weak to speak up and didn’t want to embarrass himself by admitting he had a problem. After months of dragging him to and from countless doctors appointments and psychiatrists, he decided he didn’t want the help and refused.
3 years later, suffering in silence, he decided that instead of talking to someone, he would take his own life.
So in memory of Stephen, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, we would like to ask friends, family and anyone in between to help as much as possible by spreading the word and donating to charities that specialise in the prevention of male suicide.
We as a family, have chosen the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and would like to ask if you could join us, not just by donating and spreading the word, but by reaching out to your friends and families if you are ever feeling low or anxious.
Mental health is no joke and together we hope to defeat it ❤️
