Friends In Action Northern Ireland are currently drilling water wells for remote people groups in West Africa. We work with national partners and like-minded missions to provide much needed clean fresh potable water supplies in remote village-level environments.

Water Well Drilling

Last year I had the privilege of being part of a drill team in Burkina Faso, West Africa.  I am very grateful to those of you who supported this work as, with your financial help, we were able to drill and install 4 water wells in as many remote villages in the area of Liptougou, eastern Burkina Faso.  We're planning to return to Burkina in January to try and provide four villages with clean water in the remote region near the Mali border.

Ongoing Urgent Need

Some of you may know that I work for NI Water. Last year I tested the water the people were using and found 2.4 million E.coli in 100mls. That's the quality of raw, untrested sewage and every man, woman and baby was drinking it.  We showed doctors our photos of the village children and adults with various skin and physical ailments  - sadly the majority were exhibiting conditions linked to contaminated drinking water.  We often take for granted our clean tap water - thankfully we were able to provide access to the clean water buried underground using simple low-maintenance hand pump wells.
