Story

Epilepsy affects about 1 in 100 people and there are approximately 1,200 deaths each year related to epilepsy. The reason that I am doing this is not just to raise money, but also awareness.

My youngest step-daughter, Bella, was diagnosed with epilepsy a couple of years ago having suffered years of misdiagnosis and the upset of an "unknown", and often, disputed illness.

Diagnosis isn't the end.....treatment can be harsh and the medicines can have serious side affects with varying levels of effectiveness. Bella, and thousands of others, struggle everyday. She is currently studying at University of Sussex and bravely faces constant challenges but is determined to live as full a life as her epilepsy allows, with support from friends and family.

It's a very tough road for anyone with epilepsy and the Epilepsy Society's exciting new phase of genetic research will enable those with epilepsy to receive the right diagnosis, at the right time and receive the right medication and care. They also provide information and emotional support via their helpline for people with epilepsy, their families, friends and professionals. Their work wouldn't be possible without the passion and dedication of supporters and fundraisers.

Thank you to those that have read this far....as I said earlier, I want to raise awareness as well as money......but I am going to drag my sorry, aged body over 26.2 miles so if you can spare some money.....I would appreciate it!!
