Story

Hi All

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This page has been set up in memory of Captain Stephen Healey on behalf of his friends and former team mates who between 2002-2005 occasionally studied and mainly played football together at Swansea University.

Steve was a fantastic person who sadly lost is life whilst courageously serving his country in Afghanistan on May the 26th 2012.

Steve was man of action not words. He possessed a rare combination of bravery and kindness, talent and humility. He was a brilliant footballer, described as an outstanding soldier and yet you would never hear him showing off. Always fun to be around, a loyal friend, with a big heart. A quick internet search of Steve will provide a wealth of evidence to exceed my words. A truly great man who is tragically no longer with us and is sorely missed.

An illustration of Steve's selfless nature was that he was an active supporter of Blind Veterans UK covering hundreds of miles either running or walking blindfolded to raise money for them. As a result to mark the anniversary of his death players from his era at university are going to take on the current university football team on the 31st May. 6.15 kick off at Sketty Lane Swansea with all donations for this game going to Blind Veterans UK. If you can spare any money to support a worthy cause and remember an inpsirational person then it would be hugely appreciated.
