Steps For SADS · 1 April 2022

#TALE was created in memory of Adam Lewis, who sadly and suddenly passed away in June 2014 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome at the age of 24. We raise funds to provision cardiac screening for young people in North West UK, and awareness of SADS in the hope of preventing further young tragedies.

Story

Hello from Lianne, Leigh, Ben & Jono!

We have decided to challenge ourselves to EACH walk a total of 200 miles in April, equating to 422,400 steps in 30 days... a combined total of 800 miles!

Whilst you'd normally find us sat at the end of the bar sinking (more than) a few Guinness....in April - we're putting our best foot forward in the name of #TALE...and getting in those STEPS FOR SADS!

Walking an average of 7 miles a day for the next 30 days is going to be a challenge, particularly when most of us are usually chained to our office desks. But we're going for it, we're gonna smash it - and hopefully, raise as much money as we can for this deserving cause.

We're raising awareness of SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) and raising vital funds - to enable #TALE The Adam Lewis Effect Foundation to carry out their hugely important work - including carrying out cardiac screening for young people in North West UK.

  • Every week in the UK 12 fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
  • 80% of these deaths occur with no symptoms
  • Research has shown that screening can lead to an 89% reduction in sudden cardiac deaths.

#TALE was created in memory of Adam Lewis, who sadly and suddenly passed away in June 2014 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome at the age of 24. Adam went to Penketh High School, where we all went as youngsters, and was close friends with either us or our close friends today. The cause is close to all of our hearts - and we really would be so grateful if you could dig deep and donate anything you can spare!
