Event: Step Up For Dementia, from 15 March 2021 to 30 April 2022
Could you step up to help us beat dementia sooner? We're challenging you to walk 850,000 steps within three months.

Story

900,000 steps in 3 months starting Monday 21st February 2022 - Saturday 21st May 2022

I have decided to take on the challenge of Step Up for Dementia to support a charity that is close to my heart and as a personal challenge for myself.

Sadly, this disease took over both of my grandma's lives, and really had a huge impact in the way our families had to care for them. The struggle of seeing a loved one, who once knew everything about you, to not even recognising you by name or face, is really tough. It becomes emotionally draining and challenging when you find yourself repeating the same lines and information, just to try and communicate with your loved one. You hope the next day you see them will be better than the last, but day by day, the reality is that this disease strips away their memories.

My grandmothers were never defined by dementia, they were always still my grandmothers that I love dearly, and will treasure fond memories of, but I hope for those living with dementia and the families it is effecting, that a cure will one day be found. And, until then... Lets get the walking boots dusted off and raise some money for this wonderful charity!

For you, Grandma Greenhill & Grandma Haigh and for all those effected by dementia.
