Story
This Dhul Hijjah, I want to do something a bit different.
Statistics show that almost 21 million people lack access to clean water in Pakistan and experts say the country could run dry by 2025. Infact only 47% of people in Tharparkar, Pakistan have access to water and it can take up to two days to fetch water from polluted and overcrowded water sources. It is often the case that the burden of collecting water often falls on the shoulders on young girls and women, forcing them to walk miles in the blistering heat.
Which is why starting from the 1st of Dhul Hijjah (22nd July 2020) I will be walking 20,000 steps every day for 30 consecutive days to raise awareness about this issue. This will take me approximately 3/4 hours a day to complete - in turn all you have to do is make a small donation from the comfort of your home! It costs only £770 to install a sustainable solar powered water well in Tharparkar, Pakistan. This will enable an entire village to practise good hygiene, feed livestock and grow crops, as well as having lovely safe water to drink.
