Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 14th October 2022, the 'Three Amigos' will be leaving London for Nepal to take on the trek of a lifetime to Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5364 meters!

Over 11 days of trekking for periods of between 6 and 10 hours per day, we will be visiting some of the highest villages in the world, overlooking the Himalayan snow-capped peaks and Khumbu Glacier. From the peak of Kala Patthar (5,550 meters), we will gaze up at the mighty Everest summit. Of course, before all that, we'll have to survive the flight to Lukla, arguably the most hair raising airport on the planet!

We'll be doing all of this not only to mark our 50th birthdays, but as an opportunity to raise money for Barrow Farm riding for the Disabled, where Andy's wife Lucy is actively involved.

For 45 years Barrow Farm have been enabling people with special needs and disabilities to develop their abilities and enrich their lives through riding. They are a self-funded, local charity operating a purpose built riding centre (located between Chelmsford and Brentwood in Essex), designed to  make riding accessible for people who for whatever reason cannot be catered for at another riding school. It costs over £160,000 a year to provide riding and carriage driving for their participants and to maintain their facilities.
