It’s Time!!

20 years ago, I lost my sister to cancer. She was just 17 years old. We lost her on my 24th birthday. 

Losing Nicola changed my family forever and it’s been almost too painful to talk about Nic. Whenever her name is mentioned in happy childhood memories it more often than not comes with buckets of tears. Even writing this now after all these years is impossible to do with dry eyes. She was a special girl with big frizzy bright blonde hair.  She was a quiet, shy, sweet girl and she was my little sister.

Time has gifted me with 2 children of my own and my parents have found a way to find happiness again through the love of their grandchildren. The pain of wishing that my sister was here to see my children and be the best auntie ever is as great today as it has ever been, but there seems to be more laughter with memories than tears now.

So that’s why now is finally the time to put my sister on centre stage and make Nicola’s name known, so I am doing a crazy thing all in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and running 26 miles around London. Aaahhhh..
