Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My goal is to walk 50,000 paces per week. I have the start osteoarthritis and although this exercise will help, it is a difficult venture for me. I do a fair amount of walking normally, but I have upped my target in support of ILA by 50 percent.  I will be starting on Monday the 20th of September and aim to continue for four weeks and for longer possible. I will post my progress, and possibly videos, towards my target of 200,000 paces.

I have been both a supporter of Iranian children since 1993 and more recently,  a  volunteer for one of their charities. In the early days, I supported their work with children who had been orphaned, or whose parents had been executed or imprisoned by the Iranian government. We helped them to flee to safer countries, mainly in Europe. In a safer environment, they were fostered with volunteers. Years later, it has been most gratifying to meet  these “children” as thriving adults!  I remember at a gathering in 2013, seeing a young man who had been fostered in the USA, meeting his mother for the first time in 22 years, a wonderful experience for all concerned.

The current situation in Iran is appalling, where if you are not a supporter of the clerical regime, the government will make your life hell, and your children will suffer. Children are denied education and are forced to work often as the only breadwinners. If you are a girl you can be married off at the age of 8. If you are a boy, you may be coerced into becoming a child soldier.

International Liberty Association do wonderful work to help women and children who are subjected to appalling abuses and have saved thousands of lives due to their selflessness and resourcefulness. .
