On 28 August I’ll begin my long walk to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.  With three friends I hope to walk the greater part of the Camino Francés (http://www.caminosantiagocompostela.com/), our adventure beginning in Pamplona.  On this long journey, over 300 miles) I'll have time to remember friends and family I have lost and be thankful for friends I have found again.  Many thousands have walked the Camino, each with his or her special reason.  I'm lucky to be fit enough (just!) to follow in their footsteps.

I hope to raise a lot of money for breast cancer research in Leeds.  In the UK alone, about 38,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, the number of deaths from the disease being about 13,000 annually.  This is unacceptable.

The Leeds Breast Cancer Research Action Group (BCRAG, Trust fund 3T57) has become more widely recognised over the years and has been chosen as the “charity of the year” by some companies.

All the money raised goes into the fund which is used for research and very occasionally for special items of equipment which will directly help breast cancer patients. BCRAG has no salary costs or overheads.

Most of us know people who have been touched by this disease.  Together we can make a difference by supporting research that will save lives.
