Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to take part in the London Marathon 2011. I am running on behalf of the World Society for Protection of Animals. It is a charity close to heart as it allows raised funds to go towards helping animal welfare projects across the globe with 13 offices and thousands of supporters, making them the world’s largest alliance of animal welfare societies. The WSPA work is concentrated in regions of the world where few, if any, measures exist to protect animals. Currently, the WSPA is standing up for animals through:
- Campaigning to protect bears from cruelty and captivity
- Providing education for reasonable pet ownership in order to eliminate stray animals
- Ending dog meat trade
- Creating high welfare standards for factory farming
- Saving the endangered orangutan
- Campaigning against bull fighting
- Banning the commercial slaughtering of whaling in Japan, Norway and Iceland
The WSPA is also the charity that Tiff volunteers for each week. Through her volunteering, she has assisted with political campaigns, field and disaster management, setting up new animal welfare groups and educating the public on improvements in animal care. These are key areas that I feel strongly about and that is why I am running 26.2 miles to prove it!
I hope to raise a substantial amount of money for the WSPA which I know will be put to a good cause, so please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks in advance
