Our projects provide food and income for communities, tackling poverty today. They also offer long-term change, improving the environment and soil fertility and tackling the effects of the climate crisis, for tomorrow. Thank you for your support.

Story

I’m going to walk the South Downs Way at the end of May.  Please help raise funds for tree planting in Africa & the UK. Most funds will go to Tree Aid, which grows trees in Africa to tackle poverty & reduce climate change. A smaller part will go to Woodland Trust, which plants trees in our lovely UK countryside.

I want to raise funds for trees for many reasons. Years ago Kath & I lived in a very dry village in El Salvador. We helped women’s groups to plant little tree nurseries, a great project. Trees are essential to combat climate change & restore fragile soils. In Zimbabwe & Nicaragua we saw people trying hard to protect their environment. And in my job now I work to protect & preserve woods in rural Sussex.

The South Downs Way is 110 miles so I’ll have to walk about 14 miles a day. I haven’t done a walk like this since I was a teenager, so wish me luck …. I’m not sure I can do it! I’ll put up some photos or blogs as I walk, so keep an eye out on social media. Thanks!
