We've always liked the idea of walking in the mountains and in this, our 25th Wedding Anniversary year we decided to go for it and combine a serious trek with fundraising for a charity that we support and hope you will too.
We are forgoing lavish parties, presents and luxury holidays to support this cause. Please dig deep and see if you can help us reach our target!
CARPATHIAN CHALLENGE - NE ROMANIA 20th - 28th September 2008
WE DID IT! Trek completed succesfully in mixture of overcast, rain, hail and sleet, oh and plenty of MUD! We saw the deprivation and the need and are even more convinced of the need to support the projects highlighted.
Please help us to reach our target it really will make a difference.
Romania - Farm of Hope for orphaned boys
A new construction has been started on the Farm of Hope to house more boys. The Carpathian Challenge will help finance the finishing off of the inside of the house eg buying building materials, installing staircases, plasterboard etc and also help support various other internal projects in the new house to make it habitable and able to take in additional boys
Moldova – Soup Kitchen
• New Soup Kitchen – To provide more hot meals and improve facilities
• Provide a combine harvester to harvest the food needed for the soup kitchen and to be able to improve the food value – now it is only possible to give soup and a meal of rice/potatoes and vegetables
• To feed more people. At the moment (spring/summer) about 50 people (including a few housebound and bedridden) are fed on average, the number going up to 100 in the winter. The President of the Association of War Wounded has been in touch, asking for help with the house/bed bound victims.
Albania - Childrens Playground
One of the families biggest worries is for their children. The schools are bad and there is no-where to play. We want to construct a childrens playground for 3yrs to 12 year olds.
