The Gordon Foundation was founded by Royal Charter at the express wish of Queen Victoria as the National Memorial to Major-General Charles George Gordon, C B, who was killed in Khartoum in 1885. Since its foundation, Gordon's School has been privileged to have the reigning monarch as its Patron.

Story

Steve Davis 7930 (1980) was the founder and Club Secretary of the Gordonian Runners. Steve passed away on 6th April 2023 and in his memory the Gordonians would like to help current students of the school with their athletic and running development, by fundraising for a treadmill for the school’s Fitness Suite.

In addition, as a lasting legacy, the Inter-House cross country cups, competed for each year by the girls’ and boys’ Houses will be renamed 'The Steve Davis Inter-House Cross Country Cup'.

Steve was Deputy Head Boy and House Sergeant when at Gordon's and after leaving school, continued to be a keen sportsman and hugely active in the Gordonian Community. Not only did he create the running club, but he led by example, running marathons in Europe and a regularly in his local Parkrun in Andover. His target was to run a marathon or half marathon in each country in Europe. As a tribute to Steve, the Gordonian Runners have committed to completing the five remaining countries in Europe; Italy, Slovakia, Estonia, Albania and Bucharest.
