RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

On the 26th October 2008 I'm running the Great South Run again.  Last year I ran and raised over £1000 as part of a team.  This year I'm running alone so need all the help I can get. Please sponsor me this year and help me beat last years total, and in return I'll try and beat my time from last year (1hr 25mins).

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Incase you were wondering about the RNLI, here's some information about their fund raising.

21 people are rescued each day by ordinary people doing extraordinary things

  • Training is vital to allow volunteers to go to sea and save lives every day.
  • Only 1 in 10 lifeboat crew now join with a professional maritime occupation, making this training vital.
  • It costs £1,000 (€1,400) to train each crew member, each year.
  • Crew training takes place every week at the coast and at The Lifeboat College.

£10 is the cost of a training video or DVD to pass on important lifeboat knowledge.
Taking the training to volunteers.

£272 will enable a crew member to attend first aid, radio, radar or seamanship training.
All essential in bringing people home.

£1,372 pays for an inshore lifeboat volunteer to train for a week at The Lifeboat College, Poole.
Vital for the 9 out of 10 crew who have no professional maritime experience.

£13,692 will provide sea survival training for 12 all weather lifeboat crew members.
Essential knowledge if disaster strikes while they are rescuing others.

Please give today, and help train one to save many.  You never know when you might need the help of the RNLI!

So please sponsor me now!!!!!!!!

UPDATE

I managed to complete the 10miles despite being ill at the time, running it in 1hour 24mins (1minute faster than last year).

You can still donate, so please help me raise as much as possible.

Many Thanks

Steve
