London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

We are a multi-award winning, entirely voluntary, charity that supports people from the U.K paralysed by a spinal cord injury. We help individuals to access life changing physiotherapy and we support the research world in their quest to reverse paralysis. #TeamRST

Story

2.5 years in the making! Finally, in less than 4 weeks I will be running the London Marathon for the wonderful people at the Rooprai Spinal Trust.

Covid put paid to my original date in April 2020 but fear not, all you beautiful people that donated back then will be getting your money's worth out of me on Sunday 2nd October 2022!

The original fundraising page was closed by Virgin Money so all donations have been transferred to this JustGiving page and this is reflected via the 'offline donation' made.

So, all of those amazing people that donated first time, thank you so much, and all you people that didn't, well now's the time!

The reason I chose this fantastic selfless charity is due to the on-going help and support they have given to my father-in-law Paul after he suffered a severe spinal injury in July 2018 after falling down the stairs at home.

The Rooprai Spinal Trust (RST or RS Trust) was established in 2005. The co-founder Marianne Rooprai, was herself left paralysed from the shoulders down at the age of 28 after a car accident. After the accident, Marianne and her partner Andy decided to set up a trust to support others who have been affected by the devastation that spinal injury brings. They work tirelessly supporting people both physically and mentally. They are a completely voluntary run organisation.

The RST have helped Paul in so many ways – including providing amazing specialist physiotherapy to help him with his recovery. They are genuinely such lovely, selfless people and I'm doing this to try and show our gratitude to them. Paul was initially paralysed from the shoulders down, however has been very fortunate to have made a good recovery over the last 4 years, with the specialist help from the RST. Whilst Paul is now able to walk unaided, others the RST help, may unfortunately never be able to do that again, and the support of the RST will be invaluable to them – for both the body and mind.

Please dig deep and donate anything you can. Every little really will help the wonderful people at RST. Training is almost done, I completed a 3hr run last Saturday evening and I have one LONG run left to complete this weekend before tapering starts!

Remember the RST are 100% voluntary, so your support will really help them make a difference.

Much love x
