Hackney Half Marathon 2023 · 21 May 2023 ·

Across England and Wales, we're the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - the UK's largest animal welfare charity. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome many animals each year and campaign and educate to prevent animal cruelty. The RSPCA is registered with the Fundraising Regulator.

Story

We are both running the Hackney Half Marathon in memory of Mary and Rachel Dacosta.

Much loved and missed by family and friends. Their passion was animals and their welfare.

Rachel had a love of animals from an early age and always wanted to be a vet. She achieved her ambition and briefly practised in Manchester (2016) before her diagnosis of a brain tumour.

Mary had a life long love of animals, sparking Rachel's interest in becoming a vet. At one time during our early family years Mary was looking after a dog, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, a chinchilla and more!

Mary chose the RSPCA charity for donations in lieu of flowers before she passed away.

Any donations in memory of Rachel and Mary would be gratefully received.

Thank you
