Story
I am doing this challenge to help raise much needed funds for Aim Higher a local charity that helps families dealing with Autism. They offer support groups, workshops, inclusive trips and events.
Weather permitting, I will do it in my Hull City shirt, as they play the first game of the season while we are doing the challenge!
More importantly, my friend Lee (who is doing the trek too), explains more below about his son Charlie, and how Aim Higher help.....
Our son, Charlie, is a fantastic, happy, energetic little boy who was born with complex learning difficulties, autism and global development delay.
Help and support for Charlie and families like ours is very limited and if it wasn't for local charities like Aim Higher, we would be very limited to where we can take him to allow him to just have fun and enjoy himself.
I just want to give something back and this challenge will help to raise vital funds so that their support can continue for us and many other families like us. So on 30 July 2022 I will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks which is about 24 miles, includes 1585m of ascent and takes in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in under 12 hours.
It may seem gruelling and daunting but compared to the challenges Charlie faces and will continue to face throughout his life to fulfil his potential, it will be a walk in the park !!!!
