Story

I'm taking part in the QMC Abseil 2021 to raise funds for Nottingham's Hospitals.

As a family, the QMC is extremely close to our hearts! They have saved the life of both my daughter and my niece, as well as treating my step-son for a brain infection!

My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour in September 2020 after what was a routine MRI during her epilepsy diagnosis. COVID times made it impossible for our family to stay together during this time (Please see photos) So for 12 days Abbie & I became residents of E40! They are the most selfless, incredible, caring and brilliant team you can wish for. They took care of Abbie like she was one of their own. In a bizarre turn of events, they were the same team who took such amazing care of my niece, Madeline (See pictures) during her diagnosis & treatment in 2014.

The wonderful team of surgeons operated on, and saved the life of two of the most beautiful young ladies, and for that we will be forever grateful.

Madeline has fought a long hard battle, but continues to thrive & gets stronger each day. She has started year 8 and is flourishing. She & Abbie were face-timing a lot so poor old Dad was cast aside!!

Abbie has had a small amount of the tumour removed, but thankfully it is non-cancerous. Her latest scan shows there had been no regrowth and the epilepsy caused by the tumour is well managed. She is dancing, swimming & biking as any 7 year old should do, and her strength & spirit is unbreakable. She moves into year 4 in September and doing it all with the biggest smile on her face

Jackson was admitted in early 2020 with a brain infection. The first of two long term stays for our family in 2020, thankfully pre-COVID and he is now fully recovered. He was so strong for Abbie during her stay, and kept drawing pictures, and facetiming to help keep her spirits up. A proper big brother.

I want to help the QMC in anyway I can, and cannot think of anything better than throwing myself off the very hospital building where these wonderful doctors, nurses, surgeons, consultants and every other member of the NHS, conduct their magic.

Please be generous. The hospital, staff, families & wider community depend on it.

Thank you.

Lots of love from our family to yours x

Kristina, Steve, Abbie, Jackson, Alfie, Hope & Declan.
