Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. THEMAFARMYCHEF better, faster, stronger, (2 marathons in less than a month).
I am 37years old with 17&1/2 years of army service. On 25 April 2010 I will be taking part in The Virgin London &Marathon and 23 May 2010 Albert Bartlet Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for 2 local charities that are very dear to me.
The Mark Wright Project Centre in Dalkeith, Midlothian which actively supports ex-servicemen and women, and their families. The Centre provides hands-on practical support, in helping to address the invisble wounds of war and tranistion into civilian life - providing physical, social and recreational opportunities, and access to holistic therapies and counselling services.
My second charity is The Charles Bell Ward at the Astley Ainslie Hospital. This specialises in care and rehabilitation of people who who have suffered severe brain trauma and/or degenerative nuerological conditions. In June 2003 I was diagnosed with a right -temporal 'Arterial Vascular Malformation' of the brain (AVM) after suffering from a sub-arachnoid hemorrhage and stroke and cannot thank them enough for their care and support.
In february 2009 I had several major surgeries at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol to remove my AVM. As a direct result of surgery, I was left partially sighted and was so severely weakend down my left hand side I couldn't sit up un-supported. I also had several post operative problems includung Basal Pneumonia, pulmonary embolisim, eft leg DVTand a mini stroke. The road to recovery has been long and tough. I have now managed to regain a good level of health although I do need to use a white "guide cain" when I go outside. I have also recently been diagnosed with 2 flow aneursyms, one of which is on my carotid artery and may possibly need firther medical intervention. If either of these were to bleed, it could be potentially fatal.
I do hope you will support me and help in raising funds for very worthwhile causes.
Thank you
