I am running the London Marathon 2019 in aid of the Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust. I have chosen the trust for a number of reasons.

I 'won' my place in the marathon, courtesy of Lichfield Running Club - where the late Bob Houghton was such an integral part for many years (I have been passed some of his legendary marathon training runs to assist me!). Bob was also a member of the trust and I thought this was a nice way to link two of his passions. Secondly, since retiring, my Dad has joined the Trust giving him a new circle of friends including Bob's widow Janet (as well as the chance for him to drive a digger, and my Mum some peace at home!). Last but not least, the Trust are doing some great work in and around the Lichfield area restoring the canal. 

Currently the Trust are desperately seeking funds for their 'Tunnel Vision' project, the aim of which is construct a tunnel under the Lichfield Cross City Railway Line to accommodate the restored canal. 

Any donation you could give will be greatly appreciated by the trust, and motivate me whilst training for and running the marathon!
