Story
This year I’m taking part in the Kiltwalk to raise funds for The Little Theatre, where I volunteer as treasurer.
The Dundee Dramatic Society, which calls the little theatre home, is now 101 years old and is one of the oldest community theatres in the UK. The Little Theatre building itself was originally repurposed from a jute store in the 1940s, and for generations it has been kept alive almost entirely through the efforts of volunteers and local support.
Over the decades, countless local performers have stepped onto our stage — including a young Ian McDiarmid long before he became Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars. For many people, the theatre has been a second home and a place where confidence, friendships and creativity have grown.
Like many historic community venues, The Little Theatre is full of character, but it also comes with ongoing challenges. Recent maintenance work has shown just how important it is to continue investing in the future of the theatre so it can remain safe, welcoming and active for years to come.
Funds raised from the Kiltwalk will help support the running and upkeep of the theatre, including maintenance, production costs, equipment, community activities and future preservation work.
Every donation, no matter the size, genuinely helps protect an important community space and keeps local theatre alive for future generations.
Thank you so much for any support.
