Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those who knew Neil will know what an inspiration he was and still is, each of you will have memories of Neil that are your own special memories, the common theme will be joy and laughter, because that was Neil, fun, proud and positive.

Those who didn’t know him should know that he battled many adversities in his life, but never once moaned about the cards he was dealt. Although he was an amputee himself, he did not sit back and feel sorry for himself, he tirelessly worked in disabled sports so that others with disability could enjoy sport in the same way he had.

He played many sports (Rugby, Basketball, Tennis, Fencing to name a few)  for his country, all from a wheelchair. He was a judge and commentator at the recent Paralympics in London, even though he knew he was very ill. Sadly his illness beat him in January this year, there are many other stories I could tell and I only know a fraction of what this man achieved in his short time. His life is valued by quality rather than quantity and he lived a hundred times the physical years.

He is sadly missed by all his family and friends, all we can do now in his memory is give back to those who helped him in his final days, the hospice gave Neil and Cath comfort and support when they needed it most, they like Neil always put others before themselves, nothing was too much trouble.
