Glass Door Homeless Charity coordinates the UK’s largest network of open-access services for people affected by homelessness. Year round we provide support and hope, so people can get off, and stay off the streets. Our vision is a world where no one has to sleep on the streets of London.

Story

Until 2015 I hadn't been on a bike for 30 years; fed up with the busy and overpriced London commute I decided to get back on the bike. In the same year the realisation that in 2016 I turn the wise age of 60 hit me, and I wanted a challenge to commemorate the milestone. With a bit of persuasion I signed up to cycle the 300 mile route from London to Paris in July, alongside my colleague Ben.

As well as doing this as a personal challenge, I am raising money for Glass Door - the homeless charity I have worked with for 8 years. I have worked in their night shelters since the beginning; which now provide at least 70 people a night with a hot meal and safe, warm place to sleep every night during the winter. For the past 3 years I have also run the Chelsea Methodist Church drop-in center, who work in partnership with Glass Door. Here I see up to 100 men and women 3 times a week enjoy a meal, do their laundry, chat with a caseworker and become part of a welcoming community.

Please donate anything you can; every penny will contribute to projects that save and change the lives of people who are homeless - I witness this daily. Thank you so much for your support - with 300 miles in sight I think I'm going to need it!
